This indicates that the world is rapidly approaching the day when nearly all ice will temporarily disappear, reports Kazpravda.kz citing Naked-Science.
According to a new study published in the journal Nature Communications, the first ice-free day in the Arctic could occur as early as 2027.
As part of the new research, scientists used 11 climate models and conducted 366 simulations, which demonstrated that a series of warm seasons will lead to ice melt in 2027.
Even under moderate conditions, researchers predict that the Arctic will be completely devoid of ice cover by the 2030s.
