The unemployment assistance in Kazakhstan amounted to nearly 80 billion tenge.

As of December 1, 2024, the number of recipients of social benefits due to job loss from the State Social Insurance Fund (SSIF) reached 275.7 thousand people, with 235.6 thousand citizens receiving their benefits this year. The total amount of payments amounted to 79.3 billion tenge, reports Kazpravda.kz citing the Ministry of Labor.

According to current legislation, dismissed employees receive social benefits for job loss ranging from 1 to 6 months, depending on their length of participation in the mandatory social insurance system and their income over the past 24 months.

The Ministry of Labor reminded that payments are made from the SSIF funds up to 45% of the lost income. Social benefits for job loss funded by the SSIF are provided regardless of the reasons for dismissal and are intended to support unemployed individuals while they search for work.

This service can also be accessed online through the Electronic Labor Exchange (enbek.kz).

The ministry also explained what needs to be done to initiate benefits for dismissed employees.
