The undocking of SpaceX's reusable cargo spacecraft, Cargo Dragon, from the International Space Station (ISS) has been rescheduled to December 16 due to ongoing unfavorable weather conditions in the area of its splashdown off the coast of Florida in the Atlantic, NASA announced on Saturday.
Originally, the undocking was planned for December 5. This marks the fifth postponement of the event.
Cargo Dragon has been attached to the station as part of the CRS-31 mission since early November. It delivered over 2.7 tons of food, as well as equipment and materials for conducting dozens of scientific experiments to the ISS.
Currently, Cargo Dragon is the only cargo spacecraft supplying the ISS that is capable of returning cargo to Earth.
The capsule of the Cargo Dragon spacecraft, which will splash down in the Atlantic, will bring back the results of experiments conducted by the ISS crew in orbit, with a total weight exceeding 2.3 tons.
