According to the speaker, these technologies are already being utilized for monitoring pollutant emissions, early detection of forest fires, and tracking illegal dumpsites from space, among other applications.
– Alongside digitization, the relevant agency is working on automating and controlling public services for the population. Out of 30 services listed in the ministry's registry, 29 are provided electronically, while one is available in paper format. In the first 11 months of 2024, over 34,000 services were rendered, with 96% offered in an online format, – stated the Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources.
He then elaborated on the implemented and ongoing projects. In particular, he discussed the National Data Bank on the State of the Environment and Natural Resources. This multifunctional platform provides access to the entire ecological fund infrastructure through a "single window" approach, enhancing cooperation among the government, resource users, and the public.
– Currently, specialized sensors that detect pollutant concentrations have been installed in 60% of all enterprises in the country, transmitting data to the database every 20 minutes. An additional 20% of industrial facilities are in the process of connecting to a system that not only collects data but also analyzes it. If a company exceeds its limit, all authorized bodies are notified of this fact, – the speaker mentioned.
The integration of all information through digitization creates conditions for analyzing and forecasting environmental risks. In simpler terms, modern technologies allow for the prevention of negative consequences rather than just addressing existing issues.
– Another project is tabigat.gov.kz. This geoinformation platform provides information about the ecological situation and the state of natural resources with a geographical location reference. For the convenience of the public, all data is available on Yandex Maps, allowing tourists to familiarize themselves with the information and plan their routes in advance, – added Nurlan Kurmalaev.
Thanks to satellite monitoring, 4,896 unauthorized dumpsites have been identified in the republic this year. To eliminate human error and ensure effective inspections during the removal of unwanted waste, a double aerial survey of the sites is conducted, utilizing artificial intelligence for automatic identification and regional ranking.
Additionally, it was noted during the briefing that the issuance of logging and forest tickets has been transitioned to an electronic format this year.
