During the plenary session of the chamber, Ashimbayev explained that the resignation request came from Akhmetov himself.

"The Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan has received a request for the resignation of a member of the Supreme Audit Chamber. Since 2022, he has been a member of the accounting committee overseeing the execution of the republican budget, and later - of the SAC.

"In accordance with paragraph 81-4 of the Senate regulations, the Finance and Budget Committee proposes to terminate the powers and relieve from office the member of the SAC appointed by the Senate, Rashit Sayranovich Akhmetov," said Sultanbek Makezhanov, head of the Finance and Budget Committee, during the upper chamber's session.

The official website of the SAC states that Rashit Akhmetov was born on October 7, 1959, in the settlement of Novaya Kazanka in the Zhangaly District of the West Kazakhstan region. He graduated in 1982 from the Almaty Institute of Railway Transport Engineers with a degree in "Wagon Construction and Wagon Management," and in 2002 from the Institute of Management and Law of the West Kazakhstan Engineering and Technology University with a degree in "Jurisprudence."

He began his career in 1982 as a master at the wagon depot in Uralsk.

From August 1982 to June 1984, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army.

From September 1984 to April 1989, he held positions as a senior master, chief mechanic, and deputy head of the wagon depot in Uralsk.

From April 1989 to November 1991, he served as deputy secretary of the party committee of the Uralsk railway junction.

From November 1991 to February 1994, he was the chief broker, head of the commercial center, and deputy director of the Uralsk Mechanical Plant.

From February 1994 to December 1999, he was the president of JSC "Nurzhanar."

From September 1999 to June 2017, he served as a senator in the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, holding roles as a member, secretary, and chairman of the permanent committee on finance and budget.

From June 2017 to June 2022, he was a member of the Accounting Committee for Control over the Execution of the Republican Budget.

By the decree of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 1, 2022, No. 374-VII SP, he was appointed a member of the Supreme Audit Chamber.
