The police of Almaty have conducted an investigation regarding this incident.
"Measures have been taken against the offenders: over 30 individuals who violated Article 614 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan (creating obstacles for the movement of vehicles) have been held administratively accountable. Furthermore, the Department of Police of Almaty reminds citizens of the principle of 'Law and Order' and urges strict compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan," - the agency reported.
The Department emphasized that blocking the road for any reason is a violation of traffic rules and carries consequences.
"To prevent such offenses, the police of Almaty have intensified preventive and explanatory work. Such actions are unacceptable and will be suppressed," - added the press service.
At the beginning of December, footage surfaced online showing a group of men blocking the roadway to conduct prayers. It was reported that this caused a traffic jam, and their actions obstructed an ambulance. The city police commented on the incident.
The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan (SAMK) also spoke out about the incident. They explained that on December 6, worshippers who came for the Friday prayer at the Central Mosque of Almaty could not fit in the courtyard of the mosque.
"One cannot harm others by blocking the road for prayer. Therefore, we ask you to arrive for prayers earlier, sit in designated areas, avoid blocking roads, and park vehicles in proper places, strictly adhering to the regulations and order," - stated the SAMK.
