In the Akmolinsk region, the project's cost was inflated by 764 million tenge.

The Anti-Corruption Agency, during its monitoring of the construction and repair of roads in the Akmolinsk region, uncovered instances of inflated estimates. The report included unplanned work, as stated by a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center, referencing the agency's press service.

"In 2022, 4.4 billion tenge was allocated from the local budget for the construction of the 'Babatai-Volgodonovka-Bereke-Bulaksai' section in the Arshaly district. In 2023, during the adjustment of costs, expenses for organizing a temporary detour road were included. At the same time, the price for road work was unjustifiably increased by 764 million tenge," the statement reads.

After the intervention of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Akmolinsk regional administration reviewed the project's cost.

"The savings generated were used to construct a drainage canal in the village of Koyandy in the Tselinograd district to ensure the safe passage of meltwater during the flood season," noted the Anti-Corruption Agency.

Previously, systemic corruption risks were identified in the road sector of the Turkestan region: it was found that contracts worth 2.2 billion tenge were unjustifiably awarded through non-competitive means. Administrations selected specific contractors under the pretext of needing to address the consequences of emergencies or procure intellectual property. This allowed them to bypass competitive procedures and favor firms lacking experience and resources.
