The akim of Almaty, Yerbolat Dosaev, noted that from the perspective of the economy and social stability, the city has already recovered. All key infrastructure facilities have been restored, support has been provided to small and medium-sized businesses, and overall, Almaty continues to develop.
According to Dosaev, in 2022 the city demonstrated a 5% economic growth, despite initial doubts about Almaty's ability to quickly regain its footing. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the city authorities and residents, significant progress has been made. Nevertheless, the lessons learned during this period remain crucial for future development.
Particular attention has been given to the new districts that have been annexed to the city, where infrastructure issues had long been unresolved. Many people had no access to water, sewage systems, roads, and electricity. Over the past few years, these problems have been addressed, and now the issues that had remained unsolved for years are no longer on the agenda.
However, as the akim emphasizes, new challenges will always arise in the city, and work on resolving them will continue.
āA city is not just a territory; it is a unified community, and all of us, regardless of which district we live in, are Almaty residents,ā said Yerbolat Dosaev.
He added that despite the difficulties, he never promised to solve all problems at once. It is important to approach their resolution systematically and not to rest on achievements. Learning from mistakes is necessary, but it should not slow down the city's development pace.
