The Shatyrkol mine in the Zhambyl region has resumed operations.

The Shatyrkol mine in the Zhambyl region has resumed operations.

The press service of "Kazakhmys" clarified that work resumed on the morning of December 20.

“As a result of constructive negotiations between the employer and the mining team in the Zhambyl region, the parties reached an agreement on labor conditions. Work at Shatyrkole has been fully restored,” the statement reads.

It is worth noting that the mine employees halted work in solidarity with their colleagues. Currently, negotiations are ongoing at mine No. 65 of the "South Kazakhstan" mining company.

On December 17, workers from the "South Zhezkazgan" and "Zhylandy" mines went on strike, demanding a wage increase. The company agreed to meet the demand for an additional bonus of 30% of the salary as a 13th payment; however, the workers deemed this offer insufficient and continued their strike.

On December 19, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population stated that the actions of the strikers violate labor legislation, which could lead to disciplinary action.

That evening, company representatives announced the resumption of work at the Sayak, Zhaisan, and Zhezkazgan copper smelting plants.
